Pineo Photo - Rhododendron 'PJM'

A rose is a rose is a rhododendron? The name comes from the Greek rhodon for rose and dendron for tree. The genus contains from 500 to 900 species of evergreen and deciduous shrubs that originate from around the globe. From creepers to specimens that can reach 100 feet tall in the wild, a rhododendron can be a sight to behold. Pictured is Rhododendron ‘PJM.’ The dwarf, evergreen shrub has small, dark green leaves that turn a brownish purple in winter. Lavender-pink flowers cover the plant early in the season. It reaches about 4 feet in height and width at maturity and is hardy down to Zone 4 conditions.
