February 6, 2012 — Despite the fact we are still ankle-deep in winter, things are taking shape here in the garden this February.

Our first February debut — yes, there will be more — is a collaboration between Garden Maine and a nonprofit organization that does tremendous work in the field.

And the field is Maine.

We welcome the Maine Natural History Observatory and Glen Mittelhauser, the organization’s executive director.

On Tuesday, to whet your appetite, we’ll post a story about Glen and the work that caught my attention and prompted a column about an extraordinary book Glen co-authored.

Then on Wednesday, we’ll debut the new feature “Wild Wednesday.” You might have an inkling what that’s about given our ongoing theme here at Garden Maine.

Take a moment to go read a bit about Glen here and then visit the Maine Natural History Observatory website. It is amazing what lives right before us.
