Coleus 'Henna'

Janine Pineo Photo | Coleus 'Henna'

Sometimes you can see the promise in the little sprouts and that is true for a lot of coleus, including ‘Henna,’ pictured above. Solenostemon hybrida is one of the most colorful-leaved plants around, with combinations of hues that generally are more intense in the shade. When full-grown, ‘Henna’ has chartreuse to copper on the topside of its leaves which curl to reveal the burgundy underside. Introduced from Costa Rica, ‘Henna’ will grow to 28 inches with a spread of 14 to 16 inches. Treat it as an annual or grow it as a houseplant, but like any coleus, pinch it to shape it.
