Anemone canadensis is a North American native perennial that likes partly shaded, moist locations, from streambanks to meadows to lakesides. Hardy to Zone 3, Canadian anemone or meadow anemone can reach up to 2 feet in height and can colonize an area as it spreads by underground rhizome. Other than being just another pretty face, this member of the buttercup family was used in the past by native North Americans as an astringent and a styptic to stop bleeding.
