As soon as the good earth was washed away from the skin of this potato, the reason for the name became obvious. The smooth skin was like satin, barely touched with any marks in its golden expanse. The color of Solanum tuberosum ‘Satina’ extends to its flesh, which also revealed itself to be exceptionally smooth once mashed. This German variety produced well during a very wet summer. It is good for storage and is resistant to scab.
