Known as Auckland Island Gentian, Gentianella concinna is called a companion plant in the megaherb society, growing readily alongside the megaherbs endemic to the subantarctic Auckland Islands in New Zealand. When in bloom, these petite plants only reach about 6 inches in height. Thought to be a biennial, the plant thrives in coastal to alpine landscapes and the challenging climate and poor soil conditions found in the Auckland Islands.
