Lonicera x heckrottii is a hybrid honeysuckle with deeper colors than its predecessors. A cross between L. sempervirens and L. americana, ‘Gold Flame’ has a rose pink exterior and yellow interior. Hardy to Zone 5 and warmer parts of Zone 4 and tolerant of full sun and partial shade, this honeysuckle vine can climb 10 to 15 feet but can be pruned into a 4- to 6-foot shrub. The real draw is the scent, that of true honeysuckle, which is without compare.
